RA – Rheumatoid Arthritis-Seeing It Through Our Eyes

SEE WHAT WE SAY-SEE OUR TRUTHS

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, a debilitating chronic disease.  You may or may not see it but if you can’t, don’t let my looks deceive you? What I may look like does not mean that’s how I may feel.  I am sick with a disease that you just may not be able to see from the outside but it is tearing me down from the inside.  So see what we say is our truths, look into the depths of our eyes and see all that we say we feel is real.  Take a look, tell me what you see!!!

When you look at me tell me, What Do You See:
Do I look okay
Do I look healthy
Do I look happy
Do I look lonely
Do I look sad
Do I look overwhelmed
Do I look confused; Continue reading “RA – Rheumatoid Arthritis-Seeing It Through Our Eyes”

Rheumatoid Arthritis-What Do You See

beautiful-flowers-blooming-blossom-2471455

When you look in the mirror at yourself, what do you think.  Are you thinking Rheumatoid Arthritis has really changed the way that I look.  Are you seeing a different person staring back at you?  Do you notice your hair has gotten thinner or maybe your skin seems dry or maybe your face is puffier than before or even your teeth are being battered since you’ve been on medication to fight this disease.  Do you just stare at yourself with a sense of sadness and loss because gone is that familiar face that once looked back at you before RA came into your life and took away that old you. Yes we all are missing a part of us that we wish we could have back.  That old familiarity.   Continue reading “Rheumatoid Arthritis-What Do You See”

RA – Rheumatoid Arthritis A Disease Simply Not Understood By So Many – Why

back-1432137-639x852

There is an ongoing battle for understanding about Rheumatoid Arthritis and what it really is and what it mean to those of us that have it.  By definition it is described as an auto immune disease that causes pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of function to joints. Um, but those symptoms sound like regular arthritis or osteoarthritis.  Well the key difference here is “auto immune disease”. RA-Look At The Face of Rheumatoid Arthritis

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Look At My Face

Look at my face
Can you see my heart race
As the tears began to flow
For the many things you just don’t know.

Look at my face
Do you see the pain there
Stand by me, take your place
Show me you’re with me and you care.

Look at my face
Does it show I’m so tired and worn
That I’m really sorry, I know you may need your space
That’s why I am so bitterly torn.

Look at my face
I have a disease I truly hate
One that is always up for constant debate
One that is my destiny, my life, my fate.

Look at face
I’m searching for a kind word
And a little understanding and truth that needs to be heard
If this were so, our reality wouldn’t be so blurred.

Look at my face
Can you see the uncertainty in my life
Though I’m trying day after day to handle this strife.
No matter what I do, I can’t get away from this hateful space.

Look at face
You see I just cannot give in
To this hard and bitter race
Because, as hard as it gets, I can’t let Rheumatoid Arthritis win!

Be Blessed.

Rheumatoid Arthritis-Why We Cry

late-riser-149016_640

Rheumatoid Arthritis takes us through a myriad of changes that are physical and mental. We never know from one day to the next what to expect being a sufferer of this disease because any single day may never be the same and the other. Having it makes us vulnerable to the devastation it causes and we know we have to suffer through whatever it throws at us.  This realization brings tears that many may never, ever see because for many of us our tears are shed in secret.  When our tears are seen, there are those who question Why!

When I cry, I wish I could go back to life before Rheumatoid Arthritis
When I cry, I long for what I can no longer do
When I cry, I feel the pain in my body and my mind
When I cry, I feel I’ve lost myself to Rheumatoid Arthritis
When I cry, I want others to Understand the burden I bear
When I cry, It’s because it is all that I can do
When I cry, I’m so emotionally broken
When I cry, I want others to understand why I cry
When I cry, I need loving arms to hold me
When I cry, I want this disease to be UNDERSTOOD
When I cry, IT’S NOT ALWAYS FOR MYSELF!!

Through the emotional turmoil we face and the tears that come, we have to accept the reality that our lives are forever changed.  We see how we truly are and what this disease has done and can do to us.  We cry for hope, understanding, love and comfort. This is Why We Cry.

Be Blessed.
